The new “Myotherapy” Dry Needling course is founded on Dommerholt’s evidence and clinical-based approach and is a nationally accredited course based on 2 Units of Competency from the new 22656VIC Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy (2024 Release) that you will be awarded on completion.
This is an advanced, indepth, Government accredited 12 Day, face-to-face course for professional remedial therapists or Physios, Chiros and Osteos.
This is not comparable to any 2 or 3 day weekend short courses in Dry Needling that does not meet Governments requirements to issue nationally accredited Units of Competency in Dry Needling, but just a Certificate of Completion, that might be of dubious value incase of any malpractice claims.
During the 6 x 2 days/wk or 12 x 1 day/wk on-campus program, you will also be required to demonstrate your competency by performing treatments in our supervised Student Clinic.

Following The Australian Society of Acupuncture Physiotherapists Guidelines for Safe Acupuncture and Dry Needling Practice, you will learn this increasingly popular treatment option for medical professionals used to assist their clients return to optimal function. You will demonstrate safe practices, and implement and monitor infection control policy and procedures. You will also learn all the skills of non-injection needling to stimulate specific soft tissues for therapeutic effect.
In the hands of a skilled practitioner, dry needling requires less energy expenditure for the practitioner, while simultaneously offering equal or better results for the client than manual techniques alone. Included in the course fee will be the relevant textbook as reference material, as well as the needles, kidney dish, and bin for sharp materials disposal which is necessary for practice and training.

Two units of competency (VU23639 & VU23634 from our 22656VIC Adavanced Diploma of Myotherapy (2024 release)
This very in depth program is the only Government accredited course in Dry Needling and is founded on Dommerholt’s evidence and clinical-based approach. It is either a 6 or 12 week course, with either 2 or 1 day(s) required on-campus per week. The course is two full subject taken from Q Academy’s new 22656VIC Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy course (2024 release), giving you the following two complete unit of competencies. These two UoC will ensure you will be eligible for PI insurance cover for providing Dry Needling services.
VU23639 – Provide myofascial dry needling treatment
VU 23634 – Manage health risks in a myotherapy environment

The two VU23639 & VU23634 Dry Needling Subjects together costs $1,800. Students can self-finance the course fee with a $500 deposit on enrollment and the remainder on commencement or a payment plan may be available to you.

Dry Needling is a physically invasive procedure involving skin penetration. Training for and the use of dry needling is limited to a small number of professionals, most of whom are members of the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency (AHPRA) and subject to the National Law. Dry Needling involves a variety of clinical techniques practised in a range of clinical settings by various health professionals all of whom must adhere to the Australian guidelines for the prevention and control of infection in healthcare.
As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), Q Academy must ensure that dry needling students have completed all pre-requisite Units of Competency outlined in the [22656VIC] Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy Training Package and have been approved by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA).
We also require English language literacy levels to a minimum IELTS Level 6 in writing and reading as well as sound knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, sufficient to at least pass our Certificate IV level anatomy tests.
The following professionals have Dry Needling within their scope of professional practice and are eligible to complete the Q Academy’s Dry Needling subject from the Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy:
