Trigger Point Dry Needling Course

Our Trigger Point Dry Needling course is based on Dommerholt’s evidence-informed, clinical approach, delivering comprehensive and practical training for qualified health and massage professionals. This intensive 6-week course includes two on-campus training days per week at our Brisbane, Gold Coast, and Sunshine Coast campuses.

You will receive two units of competency (VU23639 & VU23634) from our 22656VIC Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy. Upon successful completion, students will receive a certificate for the completed units of competency, supporting professional recognition and insurance requirements.


Course Structure & Practical Training

This is an advanced-level dry needling course with extensive hands-on training. Students are required to demonstrate clinical competency by performing treatments in our supervised Student Clinic, ensuring confidence, safety, and real-world application of skills.

The course meets the requirements of relevant Industry Associations and Insurance Providers, making it suitable for practitioners seeking to expand their scope of practice.


What You Will Learn

In alignment with the Australian Society of Acupuncture Physiotherapists’ Guidelines for Safe Acupuncture and Dry Needling Practice, this course teaches the safe and effective application of dry needling techniques to assist clients in returning to optimal function.

You will learn to:

  • Perform trigger point dry needling safely and effectively

  • Apply infection control policies and procedures

  • Demonstrate safe clinical practice in a supervised environment

  • Use non-injection needling techniques to stimulate specific soft tissues for therapeutic effect

Dry needling is an increasingly popular treatment option used by medical and allied health professionals, offering effective outcomes with reduced physical strain on the practitioner compared to manual techniques alone.
