Q Academy offers the ultimate flexibility and convenience with their NETQ online massage courses. Now you can study massage therapy from the comfort of your home, with full online support, and earn a Government Accredited qualification that is recognised by major industry associations. For eligible course and students may be able to apply for a VET Student Loan to help them start studying sooner!

While the majority of your training is delivered online, it is a requirement that you attend one of our Student Clinics (Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Sydney & Melbourne) to complete supervised practical training hours. This is a requirement of the course, in order to earn your qualification. We do our best to make this as convenient as possible, by breaking your clinic training into blocks that can be spread out over the duration of your course, or into one consecutive block, to best suit you and your situation. It is a fantastic opportunity for you to practice the skills learned throughout the course, to ensure you are a confident and job-ready therapist by the time you graduate.

How Studying Online Works

Learning Platform

You will be given access to a digital manual made up of short, informative videos. All lessons are engaging and presented by our experienced course coaches.  It will guide you through both the practical and theoretical material in a logical and easy-to-follow sequence that can be completed anytime.

Learning Support

The online team will be there to support you throughout the full journey. You will be introduced to your course coach via Skype, and this coach will be your tutor throughout the course. You will also be invited to our online community where you can interact with other online students.

Assessments

You will complete the majority of both theoretical and practical assessments online. The theoretical assessments will be completed through our learning platform, Cloud Assess, and practical demonstrations are to be completed in your Skype sessions with your course coach.

Workload

Once enrolled, we will give you a schedule with key milestones. We recommend you allocate 9 hours of study per week to stay on track. It is a self-paced course, so if you are dedicated and proactive, it is possible for you to move through the course content quicker.

Clinical Practice

Once you have completed the online course content, the final step is to complete your practical training hours. This is a necessary step, to show that you have understood all that you have learned. There are between 60-200 hours of practical training hours required, depending on your course of study. A significant portion can be completed at home using our Virtual Clinic system under our supervision. You will also be invited to one of our Primary Clinics (Brisbane, Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast) or Secondary Clinics (North Sydney or Melbourne), to complete the remainder of your supervised practical training hours.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  •  Personalised Support – You will have a course coach assigned to you when you enrol. They will be there to guide  and support you through your journey.
  • Online Community –  Learning online doesn’t have to be lonely! Join our online student community group, and interact with your peers and your course coaches. Keep each other motivated, ask questions and have discussion.
  • Expertly Developed Learning – All of the course materials have been especially developed so that you receive the information in short 5-10 minute videos, to break the content into easy to understand lessons. At the end of the videos you will complete a quick knowledge check, to make sure you were listening! You can replay lessons (and knowledge checks) as many times as you like. You will also complete theory assessments from your online dashboard, and practical assessments via Skype with your course coach.  You can sit lessons, complete assessments, receive feedback and check your progress anywhere, anytime!
  •  Clinic Support –  Student Clinic is the culmination of all that you learn in your program.  To ensure we have provided you with all the skills and knowledge you need to enter the massage industry successfully, it is a requirement that you complete clinical training hours in one of our primary clinics (Sunshine Coast, Brisbane or Gold Coast), or one of our Virtual or Secondary clinics (North Sydney, Melbourne). This will give you the opportunity to perfect your skills and get experience treating a range of clients with varying conditions.  60 hours (for HLT42015 Certificate IV in Massage Therapy) and 150 hours (for HLT52015 Diploma of Remedial Massage) of supervised clinic is a mandatory requirement of all accredited massage therapy programs.

You have access to the same learning material as Q Academy’s on-campus students. You will be given access to a digital manual, where you will have some light readings as well as short, interactive videos presented by one of our experienced course coaches. These classes are embedded into your manual as micro lessons.  This material takes you through both the practical and theoretical material in a logical and easy to follow sequence.

In addition, you will receive one-on-one Skype sessions with our trainer and assessor to help you prepare for assessments.  In these Skype sessions you will have the opportunity to ask questions, demonstrate your treatments and receive immediate feedback, all in the comfort of your own home.

There will be a mix of knowledge-checks, theory assessments and practical assessments. Knowledge-checks will be completed as you go through the online lessons. Theory assessments will be completed via our online platform, cloud assess. You will also have Skype sessions with your course coach to demonstrate understanding and competency.

At the final stage of the course, you will be required to complete supervised practical training hours.  You must complete 60 – 150 clinical hours (depending on your qualification) in one of our Primary clinics (Sunshine Coast, Brisbane or Gold Coast), or some of your training through a Virtual or Secondary clinic (North Sydney, Melbourne).

As the majority of your training, assessment and support is delivered online, you’re required to have a computer or tablet with internet capability to access the program.  Your computer or tablet should also have a camera to allow you to participate in your one-on-one Skype sessions.  In addition, we recommend a good quality massage table.  Firm ‘n’ Fold or Athlegen have a wide range of quality tables.  For more individualised advice please speak to your course coach.

Q Academy will provide you with on oil bottle and holster as well as a student uniform shirt for you to wear during your on-campus clinic training.

At the time of writing NETQ’s HLT52015 Diploma of Remedial Massage Online course is eligible for a provider number with the majority of health funds. Medibank Private and HCF stipulate their own education requirements for the HLT52015 Diploma of Remedial Massage to receive a provider number. All massage courses delivered via distance education, remotely or online do not meet their criteria. Therefore, NETQ’s HLT52015Diploma of Remedial Massage Online is not Medibank and HCF compliant. This means that NETQ’s graduates will not be eligible to offer healthcare rebates for members of Medibank Private and HCF but are eligible to offer healthcare rebates for members of most other health funds and utilise HICAPS for those eligible health funds. If being a Medibank Private and HCF rebate provider is a key objective, then we strongly advise studying Q Academy’s on-campus HLT52015 Diploma of Remedial Massage, which is fully Medibank Private and HCF compliant.
