How does online learning at Q Academy work?
At Q Academy, we have created five to 10-minute lessons in order to make online learning both productive and engaging. Once you have enrolled in our online diploma course, we will provide you with a schedule that includes key milestones. The course is self-directed but will help make sure you stay on track. If you are able to commit to nine hours of online study each week, you will complete your qualification as a remedial massage therapist within two years. What subjects are covered?
The Diploma of Remedial Massage Online includes both practical and theoretical components. The course subjects include:
Industry Essentials
This subject covers a range of topics, including communication, goal setting, scope of practice, medical terminology, client screening and record keeping.
Anatomy and Physiology (Muscles)
This subject covers bony landmarks, as well as the origin, insertion, action and innervation of the muscles that are likely to be treated.
Massage business
An important topic for any therapist, this subject teaches how to establish, operate and grow a successful business. Students are taught best practice in sales and marketing, business finance, customer service and personal and professional development.
Stretching
A course essential, this subject teaches the skills required for stretching all the major muscles, as well as thermal therapies and injury prevention.
First Aid
This subject covers all the necessary skills required for first aid response, life support and the management of a casualty. It is important to note that this subject cannot be completed online, so students will need to make arrangements to complete this unit before starting at the student clinic.
Remedial Massage Foundations
This subject covers the knowledge related to the way the human body works. The module focuses on each region in detail describing joints and functional tissues of the joints.
Remedial Massage Assessments
Focusing mainly on range of motion, this subject teaches the skills required for the assessment of specific areas of the body.
Remedial health information
In this unit, students are taught to recognise issues with diet and eating behaviours and to provide advice and recommendations regarding nutrition.
Safe Practice
An essential course unit, this subject ensures that students are trained to perform all treatments safely.
Anatomy and Physiology (Systems)
This subject covers information relevant to cells, tissues and all of the body’s major systems.
Massage Practice
During this unit, students learn the full body massage sequence in order to reduce stress, improve circulation, assist lymph function and enhance relaxation.
Reflexology
This subject introduces students to the traditional Eastern practice of reflexology, which can be used as a stand-alone treatment or together with other massage techniques.

What kind of support will I receive?
When you study online with us, you will receive all of the course content in a digital manual. All of the classes will be presented in short video format by an experienced trainer and assessor. All of the classes are presented in an easy-to-follow, logical sequence.
When studying the Diploma of Remedial Massage Online, you will also receive one-on-one sessions with a trainer over Skype. These sessions will help you to properly prepare for your practical and theoretical assessments, plus you will be given the opportunity to ask any questions you might have and receive real-time feedback.
